Dan Quinn says he'll meet with Roddy White about desire for touches

NFL, Atlanta Falcons

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- Roddy White was excused from Wednesday's practice for personal reasons, but Atlanta Falcons coach Dan Quinn said he would speak to the wide receiver about his desire for more touches when he returns.

Quinn did not specify the reason for White's absence from Wednesday's practice.

White, who is fifth on the team in receiving with six catches for 92 yards, expressed a desire for more touches, though he prioritized winning first.

"For me, at the end of the day, I want to catch passes," White told ESPN.com, going on to say he doesn't want to be just a blocker. Quinn said he hasn't spoken to White about the matter but will when the receiver comes back to town.

"We've got a really good relationship and an easy conversation between us,'' Quinn said.

The coach was asked whether getting White more involved would be a point of emphasis.

"I wouldn't say a point of emphasis,'' Quinn said. "We've got great respect for Roddy and all the unique things that he brings to our team. But we don't generally go into this or that to make it happen. He's somebody that we think the world of and think a ton of. The [opportunities] will be there, although they weren't in some of the games. We certainly think that they will be moving forward.''

The 4-0 Falcons host the 2-2 Washington Redskins on Sunday.
