Randall Cobb says shoulder still has swelling but will be OK for Week 1

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Randall Cobb thinks his sprained right shoulder will be healed enough to play in 12 days when the Green Bay Packers open the regular season against the Chicago Bears.

Cobb confirmed that tests Sunday showed the injury wasn't as bad as he originally feared, and that his sprained shoulder should allow him to be back for the Sept. 13 game at Soldier Field.

"I don't plan on missing a game," Cobb said. "I'm doing everything in my power to get back before then."

He said there still is swelling in his shoulder, but it "definitely is a lot better than what we all thought it was in the beginning."

Cobb was injured on the third play of Saturday's preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles when he landed hard on his right side while trying to catch a sideline pass.

"It bothers me, obviously," Cobb said. "It is an injury still. I think it will be something that'll be fine."

Cobb did not practice Tuesday, although he watched from the sideline. Including Jordy Nelson, who suffered a season-ending knee injury Aug. 23, the Packers were without three of their top four receivers for practice. Rookie Ty Montgomery was held out because of a tight hamstring.
