McShay's top WR prospects for 2016

College football is almost upon us, which means the 2016 NFL draft will be here before you know it. Those of us at Scouts Inc. -- myself, Kevin Weidl and Steve Muench -- spent the summer scouring tape and ranking the top players at each position from a draft perspective.

Below is our preseason evaluation of the best wide receivers in the 2016 draft.

Note: Underclassmen are marked with an asterisk.

Top 10 wide receivers

1. Michael Thomas, Ohio State Buckeyes*: Thomas, who led the Buckeyes with 54 receptions last season, has shown he's strong and tough enough to make difficult catches over the middle. He's a long-strider with somewhat deceptive top-end speed to kill pursuit angles. Thomas has the potential to emerge into a first-round prospect if he continues to develop as one of the focal points in Ohio State's passing game.
