KINGS MILLS, Ohio -- A.J. Green is well aware of what's at stake the next six days for two of his fellow Pro Bowl receivers.
But he isn't letting the contract situations of Dez Bryant and Demaryius Thomas cloud his thinking as he enters the final year of his rookie deal and faces a possible similar circumstance next summer.
"You know I watch ESPN all the time, and that's all they talk about," Green said Thursday during his camp for area children. "But like I say, I'm just here to play football. My body of work will speak for itself."
Set to make $10.18 million in 2015 as part of his fifth-year option, Green expects to seek a new contract by season's end. He still could receive a long-term deal at some point this offseason, but even he knows that's a slim possibility right now.
"I don't get into all the 'I need a contract' stuff," he said. "I'm not here for money. I'm not broke. So I'm fine. I can wait until the end of the year to get a contract, but I know that time is coming."
Instead of getting a new deal this summer, it is more likely one of two scenarios plays out: Either Green receives a new long-term contract at some point next year, or he gets slapped with the Bengals' franchise tag in March.
Bryant and Thomas are among five players who have been franchise-tagged this year, yet are still eligible for long-term contracts. Their teams have until July 15 to sign them to long-term deals. If that doesn't happen, the five will be on respective one-year contracts.
The franchise-tag tender for receivers this season is just south of $13 million. Green likely would make more than that in 2016 if the Bengals offered him the tag in March.
Although he's monitoring the situations of Bryant and Thomas, Green doesn't think they will ultimately affect him.
"It doesn't say anything about me," Green said. "They're three different teams. Three different people. You don't know what their situation is. All I can do is control what I can do, and that's play football. Everything after that takes care of itself."
Green missed parts of six games last season because of injuries, but still reached his fourth straight Pro Bowl. He had 1,041 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
