Marshawn Lynch has shut down the production of his biopic, and he and the director are reportedly no longer speaking to each other.
The Seattle Seahawks running back was going to star in the movie, titled "Family First: The Marshawn Lynch Story," which promised to chronicle Lynch's rise from the streets of Oakland to NFL stardom.
Mario Bobino, a friend of Lynch's family, released an unauthorized trailer for the film on his YouTube channel in February. The trailer was widely panned on the Internet and quickly removed by Bobino.
Rolling Stone reported that Lynch and his representatives were unhappy they were weren't told the trailer was being released and also were disappointed by the low quality of the work. Lynch holds the rights to the film and ordered Bobino to halt production.
"He did a terrible job, and the film will never be released," Doug Hendrickson, Lynch's agent, told Rolling Stone.
Bobino, however, told Rolling Stone that he's writing a script about his experiences in making the movie and the aftermath of the trailer's release on the Internet.
"My story is the truth, so people know what happened and what I had to deal with," he told the magazine. "If that movie had come out and it would have been successful, I would have gotten no credit. Now that it's considered a failure, everyone is pointing the finger at Mario Bobino."
The director also told Rolling Stone that his relationship with Lynch "will never be the same."
"I think the issue with me and him now is a trust issue. He doesn't trust me anymore, so that's why the movie isn't going to come out," he told the magazine. It's a trust issue with me now because I put out that promo out with his consent."
