GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Training camp is less than a month away, and the Green Bay Packers still don't know whether Letroy Guion will be suspended for the start of this season.
Neither Guion nor the team has heard from the NFL about any possible discipline, his agent Seth Katz said Thursday.
Typically, disciplinary decisions for offseason incidents are handed down well before training camp to give teams time to plan for the season.
The NFL does not announce suspensions until the appeals process has been completed, league spokesman Greg Aiello said. At this point, however, there remains nothing for Guion to appeal.
Guion was arrested in February in his hometown of Starke, Florida, after he was pulled over for erratic driving and police found 357 grams of marijuana and an unloaded gun -- which was registered to Guion in the state of Minnesota -- in his 2015 Dodge Ram truck. Police seized the truck and $190,028.81 in cash that Guion said was from his Packers paychecks.
However, the criminal case was closed in March after he paid a $5,000 fine plus court costs in a plea deal that, as a first-time offender, saw the charges dismissed with adjudication of guilt, meaning he was not prosecuted.
The Packers and Guion, who signed a one-year, $2.75 million contract to return to the Packers shortly after his case was settled, have been bracing for the possibility of a suspension ranging from one to four games.
If suspended, Guion would lose his check for each game that he has to sit out.
