Odell Beckham Jr. won't avoid 'Madden' curse

It's a question asked every year: Will the winner of the "Madden" cover vote once again fall victim to the "Madden" curse?

One has to wonder whether "Madden NFL 16" cover award winner Odell Beckham Jr. might be another player who could fall into this category.

Even though he played in a pro-style passing game with an NFL-caliber quarteback (Zach Mettenberger), Beckham's metrics in his junior season at LSU were not on par with the numbers posted by the other top wideout prospects in the 2014 NFL draft. So which Beckham is the real one? The player who posted very-good-but-not-great metrics at LSU in 2013, or the phenom who showed up during the second half of the 2014 NFL season?

His highlight-reel catches last season suggest the phenom level, but there are a number of reasons to think Beckham will revert to a lower tier and thus be the next in a long line of highly talented players who couldn't hold off the power of the "Madden" curse.
