Michael Bennett, Bruce Irvin, unhappy with contracts, arrive at minicamp

NFL, Seattle Seahawks

Defensive end Michael Bennett, linebacker Bruce Irvin and running back Marshawn Lynch, all of whom skipped the voluntary organized team activities, were at the Seattle Seahawks facility Tuesday for the start of the three-day minicamp, sources confirmed.

Bennett and Irvin are unhappy with their current contract situations. Lynch never attends OTAs, but minicamp is mandatory and missing it can bring more than $70,000 in fines.

The Seahawks have only one practice day at minicamp, which comes Thursday. The NFL docked two of those days as part of a penalty for excessive contact in offseason drills last summer.

The players are allowed be at the team facility for meetings and training but cannot practice until Thursday.

Bennett signed a four-year, $28.5 million contract in March 2013 but now would like to renegotiate so he would be paid among the top 10 defensive ends in the NFL. That would require around $10 million per year.

Irvin was disappointed the Seahawks didn't pick up the fifth-year option of his rookie contact, which would have cost the team $7.8 million in 2016.
