Pryor, a former starter for the Oakland Raiders, was one of five quarterbacks on the Chiefs' roster. Starter Alex Smith and backups Chase Daniel, Aaron Murray and Tyler Bray are the others.

Bray is rehabbing after surgery to repair a torn ACL.

Pryor, 25, played in 16 games and started 10 for the Raiders from 2011 through 2013. He completed 56 percent of his passes for 1,953 yards, nine touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

The Chiefs signed Pryor after the end of last season.
