Browns take FSU lineman Cameron Erving at No. 19

BEREA, Ohio -- The Cleveland Browns selected offensive lineman Cameron Erving with the No. 19 overall pick in the NFL draft on Thursday night.

Erving finished last season snapping to Seminoles quarterback Jameis Winston after starting 13 games as a left tackle the previous year. The 6-foot-5, 313-pounder began his college career as a defensive tackle.

Erving adds depth to Cleveland's offensive line, and he could be a long-term backup plan at center if Pro Bowler Alex Mack decides to opt out of his contract after next season.

A year after Browns general manager Ray Farmer made three trades in the first round, the Browns stayed put and addressed two major needs. With the No. 12 pick, Cleveland selected Washington defensive tackle Danny Shelton, a 6-2, 339-pound run stuffer.

Cleveland acquired the No. 19 pick in a trade last year with Buffalo.
