Marcus Mariota inspires 'dumbest questions' asked of Oregon OC Frost

As the hype about the NFL draft heats up, so does the scrutiny surrounding projected top picks such as Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota.

One of Mariota's college coaches, Ducks offensive coordinator Scott Frost, remains steadfast in his support of his former QB, even as NFL teams poke around looking for any informational edge they can use in the pre-draft evaluation process.

"The kid can do anything you ask of him on a football field," Frost told the Oregonian. "To say he can't be a pocket quarterback, someone who says that just doesn't know him. I have so much confidence in him -- there's nothing he can't do."

Frost has fielded a steady stream of inquiries -- some more insightful than others -- about his star pupil.

"Some of them were great questions and some of them were some of the dumbest questions I've ever heard," Frost told the Oregonian. "I think it's ridiculous to think Marcus is too nice to play football. If that was the case, he wouldn't have won so many games around here."

Frost understands the desire to discover as much as possible about NFL prospects, but he also thinks it's possible to go overboard in the search for information about Mariota.

"It's getting close enough to the draft [which begins April 30] that they've already examined him and studied him as much as they possibly can," Frost told the Oregonian. "I think most of the opinions have been made already, and I'm just excited for Marcus and excited to see where he ends up."
