Dallas right on Murray, Manziel

At the end of the 2013 season, it was quite difficult to have much faith in the football decision-making abilities of the Dallas Cowboys organization. The club had posted a 112-112 regular-season record since 2000 and had notched just one playoff victory in that time frame. The Cowboys were also coming off of a four-season postseason drought, which was the longest since Jerry Jones took over the team in 1989.

That has changed over the past two years.

Part of that is due to Dallas winning the NFC East last season for the first time since 2009, but this perception is also due as much to the decisions this organization has made that helped lead to the division title. These choices are starting to give the Cowboys the reputation of being one of the most levelheaded clubs in the NFL.

Not signing DeMarco Murray to a monster contract

In not signing Murray to a monster contract, the Dallas brain trust may have been following the words of legendary NFL general manager Jim Finks, who once said that running backs are only as good as the blocking they get.
