Cowboys re-sign Free, keep starting offensive line intact

NFL, Dallas Cowboys

IRVING, Texas -- The Cowboys have re-signed right tackle Doug Free, keeping the oldest player among a group of emerging stars on a standout line that blocked for NFL rushing leader DeMarco Murray last season.

The three-year deal announced Saturday is reportedly worth $15 million, with $6 million guaranteed.

The 31-year-old Free will be back with three young Pro Bowl selections in left tackle Tyron Smith, center Travis Frederick and right guard Zack Martin, who was Dallas' first rookie All-Pro since Calvin Hill in 1969.

Free, who had offseason surgery on his left ankle but should be ready for training camp, started at left tackle for two seasons before switching places with Smith in 2012. He took a pay cut to stay with Dallas last season.
