NFL, Indianapolis Colts

INDIANAPOLIS -- Retirement can hold off for at least another year for quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, who signed a one-year contract extension with the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday.

Hasselbeck said at the end of last season that he wasn't sure whether he would return for a 17th NFL season. He spent the past two seasons playing behind and mentoring starting quarterback Andrew Luck.

Hasselbeck, 39, appeared in seven games last season, completing 37 of 56 pass attempts for 431 yards and two touchdowns.

Hasselbeck, a three-time Pro Bowler, has started 152 of the 201 games he has appeared in, totaling 34,948 yards, 203 touchdowns and 148 interceptions in his career.
