Jeremy Lane needs more surgery

Seattle Seahawks nickelback Jeremy Lane, who had surgery to repair a compound fracture in his arm, also will need knee surgery and may miss the start of the 2015 season, general manager John Schneider said Thursday.

Both injuries happened on Lane's interception in the first quarter of Super Bowl XLIX. It was clear from replays that Lane suffered a severe fracture of his left arm, but Thursday was the first time the Seahawks organization mentioned that Lane also injured his knee on the play.

Schneider mentioned Lane's knee injury after he spoke at the podium Thursday morning at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis. He spoke to reporters for the Seattle Times and the Tacoma News Tribune. Lane already had surgery to repair his arm fracture but hasn't had knee surgery yet.

Schneider also said free safety Earl Thomas has not had surgery yet to repair the torn labrum in his shoulder. Schneider said Thomas could be limited in training camp, but he expects him to be ready to go for the start of the 2015 season.

The Seahawks aren't sure whether strong safety Kam Chancellor will need surgery to repair the torn medial collateral ligament in his knee. Schneider said it's "iffy" that wide receiver Paul Richardson would be ready for the start of next season. Richardson had surgery last month to repair a torn ACL.
