Le'Veon Bell charges may be dropped

PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell is applying for a first-offender's program on marijuana possession and driving under the influence charges, which could result in the charges being dismissed and his arrest record expunged.

Defense attorney Robert Del Greco Jr. says Bell's tentative deal would include 15 months' probation and a 60-day driver's license suspension. It must be approved Feb. 6 by an Allegheny County judge.

Del Greco spelled out the agreement when Bell was formally arraigned on the charges Wednesday. Bell was in court but didn't comment. He later addressed the issue at Steelers practice.

"I'm glad to be over that. I'm not worried about that right now," he said.

Bell and Steelers running back LeGarrette Blount were arrested Aug. 20 after an officer reported smelling marijuana coming from a vehicle they were in.

Blount faces a preliminary hearing Dec. 10. He has since been cut and now plays for New England.
