Aaron Rodgers on injury: 'We'll see'

NEW ORLEANS -- Aaron Rodgers did not come out of the game, but the hamstring injury he sustained in the third quarter of Sunday night's 44-23 loss to the Saints might change the Green Bay Packers quarterback's bye-week plans.

"We'll see," he said when asked whether he will have to remain in Green Bay for treatment this week.

Either way, he insisted he will be under center when the Packers return to action on Nov. 9 against the Chicago Bears.

"I'm not going to miss any time," said Rodgers, who scored on a 14-yard scramble for the Packers' only points after his injury.

Rodgers was hurt on a 7-yard scramble during the Packers' opening drive of the second half. Three plays later, he threw his first interception since Week 1, ending a streak of 212 attempts without one. He threw a second interception but still passed for 418 yards on 28-of-39.

But he was clearly a different player after the injury. He rarely moved from the pocket and took much shorter dropbacks.

"I think it was obvious just the way we played from that point on," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. "We kept him in the [shot]gun, and really our whole play-action and QB-movement package was gone."

McCarthy said he considered taking Rodgers out of the game at the time of his injury. However, Rodgers stayed in until McCarthy felt the game was out of reach and Matt Flynn came in with 3:16 remaining.

"We obviously thought about it long-term there as we discussed his injury," McCarthy said. "But he stuck it out and obviously scored on the scramble. I thought he played smart and didn't really open it up to put himself in jeopardy for future injury [or] further injury."
