Calais Campbell back at practice

NFL, Arizona Cardinals

TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona Cardinals' Calais Campbell was limited in Thursday's practice, his first since an illegal chop block injured his right MCL against the Denver Broncos in Week 5, but he didn't get any sympathy from his defensive coordinator.

Todd Bowles was asked how his 6-foot-8 defensive end was moving Thursday.

"He's slow to begin with, so it's hard to tell," Bowles said, cracking himself up.

He finally calmed down before adding: "But he looks the same as if he got caught by Peyton Manning on the touchdown."

Bowles was referring to Manning's touchdown-saving tackle late in the second quarter of the Broncos' 41-20 win. Instead of barreling over Manning, Campbell let the 38-year-old quarterback bring him down.

Campbell has been out since Denver tight end Julius Thomas dove at his right leg in the third quarter. Thomas was flagged on the play and fined $8,268. Campbell missed Arizona's next two games, but there's still no indication whether Campbell will play Sunday against Philadelphia.

After his laughter subsided, Bowles said his star defensive lineman didn't look all that bad in practice.

"He's moving OK," Bowles said. "He's moving OK."

Rookie tight end Troy Niklas missed his eighth day of practice with a sprained ankle. Rookie wide receiver John Brown (ankle), safety Rashad Johnson (knee) and running back Andre Ellington (foot) were limited. Defensive tackle Frostee Rucker (calf) practiced in full.
