DeAngelo Hall's season in jeopardy

PHILADELPHIA -- Washington Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall said doctors told him he likely tore his left Achilles tendon, which, if true, would sideline him for the season.

Hall will undergo an MRI Monday to confirm what he said he had been told. Hall suffered the injury in the third quarter of Washington's 37-34 loss to Philadelphia.

Hall said it felt as if someone had stepped on his foot and added that he had never torn anything before in his career.

"He was playing good ball for us," Redskins safety Ryan Clark said. "We have to figure out a way not only to replace what he does on the field but also in the meeting room, on the practice field. That's a huge loss for us. We have to find a way to compensate for him very quickly."

It's the latest in a string of injuries for the Redskins since the start of the season.

Nose tackle Barry Cofield is on short-term injured reserve and quarterback Robert Griffin III will be lost for at least another month -- possibly two -- because of a dislocated ankle.

Rookie cornerback Bashaud Breeland played more after Hall's injury, with E.J. Biggers already serving as the nickelback. Tracy Porter, whom the team signed in the offseason to be the nickel corner, has yet to play this season because of a hamstring injury. He still hasn't practiced since the regular season started.

The Redskins also lost defensive end Jason Hatcher to a hamstring injury that coach Jay Gruden termed mild. However, because the Redskins play Thursday night, Gruden said he's uncertain if Hatcher will be available.

The same is true of left guard Shawn Lauvao, who left with swelling in his right knee.
