Garrett Graham misses practice

NFL, Houston Texans

HOUSTON -- Texans starting tight end Garrett Graham has a back injury and might miss the team's season opener against Washington, coach Bill O'Brien said Thursday.

"We're still checking him out," O'Brien said. "He might be available. He's probably a guy that we'd have to work out on the morning of the game."

Graham, who became the starter after Houston released Owen Daniels this offseason, missed practice for the second straight day. O'Brien said the injury wasn't serious, but it could take longer than Sunday to heal.

Graham has 78 career receptions for 832 yards with eight touchdowns, including five last season. He was re-signed during the offseason.

C.J. Fiedorowicz, who was taken in the third round of this year's draft, likely would start in Graham's absence.
