Cardinals sign Isaac Sopoaga

NFL, Arizona Cardinals

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Two days after losing Darnell Dockett for the season, the Arizona Cardinals found the depth they've been looking for on the defensive line.

Arizona has signed defensive tackle Isaac Sopoaga to a one-year deal, the team announced Wednesday.

Sopoaga, who's entering his 10th season, returns to the NFC West, where he played from 2005-2012 with the San Francisco 49ers. He played the first eight games of 2013 with Philadelphia at nose tackle, starting seven of them and finishing with 10 tackles. He also played six games at defensive tackle with New England, starting the first two and totaling two tackles and one sack.

The University of Hawaii product has five games of postseason experience, including getting three tackles in the 49ers' loss to the Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII.

He gives the Cardinals depth behind Frostee Rucker, who'll replace Dockett in the starting lineup, and defensive end Calais Campbell.
