Jaguars waive QB Matt Scott, invite 27 to camp

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Jaguars have waived first-year quarterback Matt Scott.

The move comes a week after the team selected quarterback Blake Bortles with the third overall pick in the NFL draft and a day before the start of a two-day rookie minicamp.

Scott would have been eligible to participate in the camp. Now, Bortles and undrafted rookie Stephen Morris will handle practice repetitions.

The Jaguars also invited 27 players to participate in the camp on a workout basis. They will join the team's nine draft picks and 17 undrafted free agents, all of whom are under contract. The tryout players include former Alabama guard/center Antoine Caldwell, former Arkansas receiver Greg Childs and former UCLA defensive tackle Brian Price.
