Reports: Bears change Cutler deal

The Chicago Bears have cleared $4 million in cap space for 2014 by restructuring Jay Cutler's new seven-year contract, according to multiple reports.

The Bears will convert $5 million of his base salary into a signing bonus, and prorate that over five years, the Chicago Sun-Times and Tribune reported. National writer Brian McIntyre first reported the news on Twitter.

Cutler's cap number for 2014 is now $18.5 million.
