Management sucks. The NFLPA in there for a good reason. To make sure the players are treated fairly. These players didn't do anything more than play an aggressive game. God ell has got to know he ain't all that.

These players and their union are disgusting. Management acted with integrity knowing they were wrong and taking their consequences like men. There is hard evidence that all 4 of these guys were leaders in the scheme and they know it, yet their going to try to hide behind the union? This is not how men of integrity conduct themselves and these guys NFL legacies and reputations will suffer as a result.

If the commish is handing out suspensions to protect the integrity of the league & the PA is protecting those players that would partake in a bounty, who is looking out for the players other than the commish?

The problem people are having is the punishments, but who really deserves the punishments. The bounty program was constructed by the GM, Head Coach, and defensive coordinator. These people have the power to determine if they're cut tomorrow or not. That's why the players pleaded the 5th so they wouldn't be cut when the coaches returned.

The players association is saying it is OK to try a destroy the career of other members of the same union. The players assoc. is a joke and does not represent all players the same.

No, the players association is saying that the coaches were the ones responsible for the creation of program, not the players. They were just doing as they were told. Unlike the NBA or Major League Baseball , a player can be cut from an NFL Team just like that without having to pay crap. No player is gonna risk their jobs going against their coaches.

Looks like the Union has a point , CBA does say that and this happened prior to the CBA being signed . No where does it say or elaborate on what indescretions are not covered .IMO they will lose this appeal ,but I believe that Vilma's punishment will be reduced to 6 games instead of the entire year ,which is just .

Like Vilma said release the evidence.......... He states that he refused any payments and did not pay into the bounty program. If this is true then what else could he have done? Go to the management ?what a joke they were the ones running the program. Also they were just about to win a Superbowl and he was the defensive captain nobody is going to rock the boat in that situation. Hopefully somebody besides Goody will hear the case.

Since the NFL has a protect -the-QB mind set in play, this type of plan to injure them is not going to be well received.

This whole bounty system could have been resolved quicker if the players involved did not accept the money and immediately reported the coaches who were instigating it.

We think it's sick that the player's union is more concerned with the penalties on the offenders than the safety of the rest of the players in the league. That's just not something anyone can support.

I can only assume the NFLPA is looking to have someone other than Godell look at the cases to insure an unbais view of the situations. If a pay for performance program is against the rule then i agree that there should be some type of punishment. However "I feel" meaning in my opinion everyone thinks the Saints were out there taking other players out of the game when in reality the Saints had less defensive penalties than half of the teams in the NFL. How many times has any player on the opposing team been carted off the field after playing the Saints. I do question where are the facts, show me the evidence and please don't just tell me to follow you blindly. So to everyone who feels the saints cheated. Yes the HC, GM and DC all admitted to having a pay for performance program. I agree and punishment should follow but to say they Saints were out there trying to hurt other players i don't believe it because i didn't see it. If you did please tell me which game.

Godell is basically saying just believe me cause I say so !!! If he has evidence , he should bring it out so that there would be no doubt . Untill he does that , there is no way anyone should trust him . Can anyone here say that is they were falsely accused of a crime they would let the judge say "Just trust me , I have seen the evidence and your guilty ! You don't need to see it . Spend your year in jail and shut the hell up !!! "

If he didn't have evidence, the appeal would be about that. Not trying to get someone else to judge them. And there wouldn't be a judge saying that if the Players appeal the punishment, they have little chance of succeeding.

I'm not "for" the actions of the players in this case, I do have a problem with Goodell being Judge and Jury on this situation. I'm not in favor of the "Star QB's are made of glass" rule that he has put in place. There are 32 teams in this league. Are the teams that don't have a "Star QB" in this league suppose to just lay down an let those who do, win games and not try to get to the other teams best asset. I'm not for bounty's, but I am againist the over protection of the "Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning's" of the league. I don't care if it's the "I-Formation, Pro-Style, or Spread Formation". I just want to watch football played on an even playing field, with no favoritism shown to any style.

Maybe it's because I come from Ole Miss and remember the Chucky Mullins story, but anyone who would pay a player to hurt another player, regardless of how inconsequential the reward is, deserves to be FIRED. Likewise, anyone who takes money to injure another player, should be FIRED. Jonathan Vilma was involved in both of those activities. If I was the commissioner, I'd tell him he's lucky just to have a job.
