Big 12, SEC to expand their challenge event in 2016-17

Women's College Basketball

The Southeastern Conference and Big 12 have agreed to expand their women's basketball challenge event starting in the 2016-17 season.

Both leagues announced the expansion Thursday.

The annual challenge event started with two games this past season in Little Rock, Arkansas. It will continue this season with Texas facing Arkansas and Oklahoma meeting Texas A&M on Dec. 20 in Oklahoma City.

Starting in the 2016-17 season, the event will include 10 games at 10 different campus sites rather than having just two games that take place at a neutral site. The 2016-17 games will take place between Dec. 1-4, and the lineup includes eight-time national champion Tennessee hosting two-time champion Baylor and 2015 Final Four participant South Carolina visiting Texas.

The 10-game lineup in 2017-18 features Baylor hosting Kentucky.
