UConn women stay atop AP poll

Connecticut remains No. 1 in The Associated Press poll for the 22nd straight week after easily winning its first game of the season.

The Huskies will face No. 6 Stanford on Monday night in an early showdown in California.

South Carolina, Notre Dame, Tennessee and Texas A&M round out the first five, followed by Stanford, Duke, Baylor, Maryland and Texas.

The first 21 teams in the poll went 31-1 over the weekend, with the lone loss coming by then-No. 18 DePaul to the Aggies. The ranked teams won those games by an average of 30 points.

Georgia, Purdue and Gonzaga all cracked the poll, finishing tied for 24th, while UCLA and Dayton fell out. The Bruins lost to James Madison and No. 11 North Carolina. The Flyers fell to Washington State and the Zags.
