Calveion Landrum, a 5-foot-10 junior point guard at La Vega (Waco, Texas) and the No. 10 prospect in the espnW HoopGurlz Super 60 for the 2016 class, has given a verbal commitment to Baylor.

Landrum, who led La Vega to an undefeated season and a state title as a sophomore, chose Baylor over Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Oklahoma State. She is the first recruit in coach Kim Mulkey's 2016 class.

"It's the hometown team in a power conference, and I wanted to play in front of my family and friends and Coach Kim," Landrum said.

Baylor has three Top 100 prospects in its highly touted 2015 class: Alexandria Gulley, Justis Szczepanski-Beavers and Alyssa Dry. The early signing period for the 2015 class opens Nov. 12.

Landrum, an athletic and explosive scorer, was named MVP of the Texas 3A state title game after scoring 23 points in La Vega's 47-42 win over Argyle. For the season, she averaged 17.2 points, 7.3 rebounds and 4.3 steals per game.

Landrum's La Vega teammate, senior Erin DeGrate, has given a verbal commitment to Louisville.

Kim wasn't the only Mulkey who celebrated good news Wednesday. Nancy Mulkey (no relation), a 6-9 center at Cypress Woods (Texas) and a two-time gold medalist with USA Basketball, gave a verbal to Oklahoma. She is the No. 21 prospect in the junior class.
