Erin Boley, the No. 9 prospect in the espnW HoopGurlz Super 60 for the 2016 class, has given a verbal commitment to Notre Dame.

Boley, a 6-foot-2 forward at Elizabethtown (Kentucky), had also considered Tennessee, Louisville, Stanford, Connecticut, Kentucky and others.

"I wanted to get away from my home state, and Notre Dame was the university and the program for me," she said.

Boley was Kentucky's Gatorade Player of the Year as a sophomore, when she averaged 20.3 points and 9.4 rebounds and led Elizabethtown to a runner-up finish in the state tournament. She also boasts a 4.0 GPA.

"I've been a head coach for 21 years, and I've never seen a player with her work ethic," Elizabethtown coach Tim Mudd said. "She's an excellent practice player. But when our team practice is over, that's when she really goes to work on her individual skills.

"You either have that desire to work hard or you don't. And she certainly has it."

Boley is the first player in Notre Dame coach Muffet McGraw's 2016 class. The Irish have verbals from two Top 100 prospects in the 2015 class, guards Ali Patberg and Marina Mabrey.
