HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. -- April Wilson went coast-to-coast and scored an uncontested layup with 3.7 seconds left as No. 14 seed Purdue rallied to beat 11th-seeded Wisconsin 58-56 Wednesday night in first round of the Big Ten Conference tournament.
The Boilermakers (11-19) move on to face sixth-seeded Minnesota (22-8) in a quarterfinal matchup Thursday.
Wisconsin (9-20) led 51-42 with 8:12 to play before Purdue used a 14-3 run to take a 56-54 lead with 1:15 remaining. Purdue's Ashley Morrissette forced a turnover but couldn't connect on a jumper with 32 seconds left, leaving the door open for the Badgers.
But rather than run out the clock, Wisconsin's Dakota Whyte hit a long 2 with 9.7 seconds left to tie it, then Wilson took the inbounds pass and scored the game-winner.
The Badgers' Jacki Gulczynski tossed up a leaning 3-pointer at the buzzer, which was first called good but ruled too late after review.
