GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Dearica Hamby had 23 points and eight rebounds, and Amber Campbell scored 12 to help 13th-seeded Wake Forest women beat No. 12 seed Boston College 69-53 in the opening game of the ACC tournament on Wednesday.

Hamby, who played all but the final seconds, made 10 of 14 free throws and had four assists for Wake Forest (12-19), which will face No. 5 seed Syracuse on Thursday.

Two free throws by Katie Quandt gave Boston College (13-17) its only lead of the second half with 15:41 to play, before Hamby scored six during a 11-2 run which put Wake Forest in front, 51-43, for good with 10:12 remaining.

Boston College made just 4 of 18 (22.2 percent) field goals, including 2 of 9 from 3-point range, after halftime and scored a season-low 21 second-half points.

Emilee Daley, Nicole Boudreau and Ashley Kelsick scored 12 apiece for the Eagles.

Wake Forest has won at least one game in seven-consecutive conference tournaments, a school record.
