PULLMAN, Wash. -- Lia Galdeira scored 21 points, Tia Presley had 19 and Washington State forced 30 turnovers to open the season with a 76-60 win over No. 22 Dayton on Friday night.

The Cougars turned those 30 turnovers into 28 points in a game that was otherwise evenly matched.

Presley, who had 13 points at the half, scored five points in a 13-0 run that the Cougars used to break away from a 10-10 tie. Pinelopi Pavlopoulou followed with a 3, Ivana Kmetovska added a layup and Taylor Edmondson capped it with a 3.

Galdeira then made two free throws and back-to-back 3-pointers as the Cougars closed the first half with a 10-0 surge for a 40-25 lead.

The Flyers, who shot 31 percent, never challenged in the second half.

Andrea Hoover led Dayton with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
