MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Bria Holmes scored 32 points to lead No. 22 West Virginia over Evansville 83-39 on Wednesday night.

The Mountaineers (3-1) scored the first seven points of the game and raced out to a 16-3 lead before Evansville could settle in as the Purple Aces (1-3) missed 9 of their first 10 shots. Sara Dickey's layup with 5:14 in the half cut the deficit to seven, but West Virginia used a 15-3 run to close the half and lead 41-22 at the break.

West Virginia pounded the ball inside after the break -- its first six field goals were all layups -- with Averee Fields and Holmes taking advantage underneath. Fields finished with 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting. Teana Muldrow had nine points and nine rebounds for WVU, which out-rebounded Evansville 62-31.

Dickey paced Evansville with 16 points, but was just 4 of 21 from the floor.
