Mississippi State and Oklahoma State are finalizing a deal to open the 2013 season on Aug. 31 at Houston's Reliant Stadium, sources told ESPN.

The game will be the first of what will be a yearly tradition for Reliant Stadium, the home of the NFL's Houston Texans.

Reliant Stadium is creating an annual Labor Day weekend event, joining Atlanta's Georgia Dome and Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, in hosting high-profile college football season-opening contests.

Since 2008, the Georgia Dome has hosted the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game. In this year's contests, Tennessee defeated NC State 35-21 and Clemson beat Auburn 26-19.

Future Chick-fil-A games already scheduled are Alabama vs. Virginia Tech in 2013 and Ole Miss vs. Boise State in 2014.

Since 2009, Cowboys Stadium has hosted the Cowboys Classic.

Alabama defeated Michigan 41-14 in this year's contest. Future Cowboys Classic games already scheduled are LSU vs. TCU in 2013 and Texas vs. UCLA in 2014.
