QB Jarrett Stidham says he will play for Baylor this season

In the wake of the departure of football coach Art Briles and athletic director Ian McCaw, a key Baylor player affirmed his commitment to the program.

Sophomore quarterback Jarrett Stidham wrote in an Instagram post that he will play for Baylor in 2016.

"Can't wait to get back on that grind tomorrow with my brothers," Stidham wrote on Monday. "This year is going to be different than the rest in many ways, but either way we will make a statement to everyone. Excited for the opportunity God has presented this team with to overcome adversity and become even closer as a family. Stick with us Baylor nation, we got this."

Stidham played in 10 games for Baylor last season, passing for 1,265 yards with 12 touchdowns and two interceptions.

McCaw stepped down Monday, shortly after the school named former Wake Forest coach Jim Grobe as its interim football coach. Last week, Baylor's board of regents suspended coach Art Briles with intent to terminate and stripped chancellor Kenneth Starr of his title of university president.

The school's actions came as part of its response to the findings of an independent investigation by the law firm Pepper Hamilton, which looked into the school's mishandling of sexual assault cases.
