Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Shaun King will join the South Florida Bulls' coaching staff in a role still to be determined, a source told ESPN on Thursday.
Co-offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Danny Hope resigned Thursday for family reasons.
"I would like to thank Danny for his significant contributions to the success of our program over the past season," USF coach Willie Taggart said. "We appreciated having him as part of our staff and I know he enjoyed being a Bull. He loved it here and I loved having him, but sometimes you have to make choices in regards to what's best for your family."
Taggart, whose Gulf Coast Offense was the catalyst for the Bulls' school-record 5,741 yards and 54 touchdowns last season, is expected to name a new offensive line coach for the Bulls in the coming weeks.
King played 31 games for the Bucs from 1999 to 2003 before winding up his NFL career with the Arizona Cardinals in 2004. He threw for 4,566 yards and 27 touchdowns during his career.
"I expect to be able to complete our staff very quickly with an excellent offensive line coach," Taggart said. "I will continue to call the plays and work closely with our offense, and we will build our staff around that same structure."
