Paxton Lynch tops list of players with something to prove

Memphis QB Paxton Lynch faces off against Houston's talented secondary on Saturday. Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports

These players will be challenged Saturday because of specific matchups, game plans or situations they face.

How they perform will likely play a big role in their team's success. And while it's likely the last thing on the the players' minds, NFL evaluators are eager to see how these future pros handle the moment.

So no matter what lens you're looking through, these are some of the key players to watch in many of the top college football games this weekend.

Paxton Lynch, QB, Memphis Tigers

Lynch has done a tremendous job this season of protecting the ball, throwing only two interceptions in 327 passing attempts and not surrendering a single fumble. That's part of the reason he's currently ranked among one of my top-10 prospects for the 2016 draft. Lynch will face two other risers within the Houston secondary -- S Adrian McDonald and CB William Jackson III. McDonald has 17 career INTs, while Jackson has returned two of his three picks this season for touchdowns. Houston leads the FBS with 25 forced turnovers, so Lynch will have to be on his game to limit mistakes.
