Alabama LB Reggie Ragland tops list of players with something to prove

College Football, Alabama Crimson Tide

These players will be challenged Saturday because of specific matchups, game plans or situations they face.

How they perform likely will play a big role in their teams' success. And while it's likely the last thing on the players' minds, NFL evaluators are eager to see how these future pros handle the moment.

So no matter what lens you're looking through, these are some of the key players to watch in many of the top college football games this weekend.

Reggie Ragland, LB, Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama has two D-linemen in my top-15 prospects (Jarran Reed and A'Shawn Robinson), so Ragland shouldn't have blockers consistently draped all over him Saturday against LSU. That means plenty of one-on-one opportunities between my top inside linebacker prospect and RB Leonard Fournette, the Heisman front-runner who has yet to be held below 150 yards rushing in any game this season. Ragland and the Tide have proved to be premier run stuffers (2.6 yards per carry allowed, third overall), but this will be an exceptional challenge -- and a great tape for NFL scouts to study.
