Laquon Treadwell tops list of players with something to prove

College Football, Mississippi Rebels

These players will be challenged Saturday because of specific matchups, game plans or situations they face.

How they perform will likely play a big role in their teams' success. And while it's likely the last thing on the the players' minds, NFL evaluators are eager to see how these future pros handle the moment.

So no matter what lens you're looking through, these are some of the key players to watch in many of the top college football games this weekend.

Laquon Treadwell, WR, Ole Miss Rebels

Treadwell has wasted little time re-establishing himself as one of college football's best wide receivers. Coming off a gruesome leg injury last season, the junior WR is averaging 111.8 yards per game over the past five weeks. Treadwell attacks the ball with his hands, and is highly effective on contested throws and jump balls. That will come in handy this Saturday against Auburn, when he'll face CBs Jonathan Jones and Carlton Davis. Jones leads the Tigers with seven pass-breakups, while Davis, a 6-foot-1 freshman, has two interceptions in six games (including a crucial interception in the end zone against Kentucky).
