Connor Cook tops list of players with something to prove

College Football, Michigan State Spartans

These players will be challenged on Saturday because of specific matchups, game plans or situations they face.

How they perform will likely play a big role in their teams' success. And while it's likely the last thing on the the players' minds, NFL evaluators are eager to see how these future pros handle the moment.

So no matter what lens you're looking through, these are some of the key players to watch in many of the top college football games this weekend.

Note: Underclassmen are marked with an asterisk.

Connor Cook, QB, Michigan State Spartans

Cook has had a really good start to his senior season, ranking ninth in the FBS with a 82.4 adjusted Total QBR. He's shown the ability to make tough throws into tight windows -- and he's done it despite having to deal with a lot of pass-rush pressure. I'd like to see him show more consistency with his decision-making and throwing mechanics on Saturday against Michigan's defense, which ranks second in pass yards allowed per game (115.5).
