Laremy Tunsil, stepfather scheduled to appear in court July 14

College Football, Ole Miss Rebels

Ole Miss offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil and his stepfather, Lindsey Miller, are scheduled to appear in court on July 14 following a physical altercation last Thursday that led to each of them pressing assault and domestic violence charges against each other, according to Lafayette County (Miss.) Sheriff's Department officials.

Tunsil told Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze that he was protecting his mother, Desiree Tunsil, after Miller shoved her during an argument. Miller has alleged that the argument was about Tunsil "riding around with agents" and that Tunsil shoved him against the wall and started hitting him after Miller tried to shake his hand, according to Miller's statement to police.

Freeze released a statement Tuesday saying he was aware that Tunsil and his family had met with potential agents, which Freeze noted was "within his NCAA rights as a student-athlete."

An NCAA violation would occur only if a student-athlete were to accept money or gifts from an agent or enter into any kind of agreement (written or verbal) with an agent.

"Regarding the altercation, we will continue to gather facts and cooperate with the proper authorities," Freeze said.

Tunsil turned himself in Friday afternoon and was later released on bond. Miller was booked into the Lafayette County Detention Center on Tuesday and later released on bail.
