Auburn and Oregon, two of the nation's premier college football programs, will meet in the 2019 season opener at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, as part of the AdvoCare Classic.
The game, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 31, will be a rematch of the 2011 BCS title game. In that game, the only meeting between the programs, Auburn kicked a late field goal to defeat the Ducks 22-19 and bring the national championship back to the Plains.
Since 2009, Oregon has won 70 games, second-most in the FBS, while Auburn has won one national championship (2010) and been to another title game (2013).
"I know how much it means to our players to have an opportunity to play in high-profile games; it is one reason they choose to come to Auburn," Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs said in a statement Tuesday. "I'm also happy for the Auburn family, the best fans in college football. They always travel in masses to support our program, so this is a great reward for them as well."
It will be the 11th contest in the AdvoCare Classic series and the first game Auburn has played in AT&T Stadium. Oregon took part in the series when it opened the 2011 season against another SEC West foe, LSU, and the Ducks returned to AT&T Stadium in January for the national championship game against Ohio State.
The series features Alabama and Wisconsin this fall, Alabama versus USC in 2016, Florida versus Michigan in 2017 and LSU versus Miami in 2018.
