California assistant coach Pierre Ingram arrested for solicitation

Pierre Ingram, Cal's recruiting coordinator and wide receivers coach, was arrested in a prostitution sting April 16.

Ingram has been placed on administrative leave while the university looks into the matter. In a written statement, Cal said Ingram did not participate in the Golden Bears' spring game this past Saturday, which happened after his reported arrest.

The Bay Area News Group earlier reported the news, writing that Ingram allegedly solicited an undercover officer online before arriving at an Oakland Motel 6. He was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor solicitation of a lewd act and given a court date next month.

"We are aware of the situation and at this time the University is in the process of gathering more information," the school said in a statement. "Once that process is complete and the situation has been fully assessed, we will be in a position to comment further."

Ingram's attorney Darryl Stallworth, a former Cal defensive back, told ESPN.com that his client is sorry for his actions.

"He is embarrassed and remorseful to have brought this type of attention to his family and the school," Stallworth said. "He is deeply apologetic and seeking counseling. Right now he is asking for his family's privacy."

Ingram came to Berkeley from his previous job at Louisiana Tech with head coach Sonny Dykes prior to the 2013 season. After spending two years working with the Bears' running backs, he assumed the title of passing game coordinator this offseason.

Ingram's contract is set to expire April 30 and would need to repay a $20,000 signing bonus if he is terminated before then.
