OU's Jordan Smallwood hurts knee

NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma wide receiver Jordan Smallwood has suffered a left ACL injury and could miss the first two games of the season.

The team made the announcement on its Twitter account.

Smallwood, a sophomore, caught three passes for 21 yards last season.

The injury comes as Oklahoma is trying to install new offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley's offense during spring practice.

Riley said the Sooners lack depth at the position. Though he feels badly for Smallwood, Riley said the injury provides an opportunity for other players to shine. The spring game is April 11.
