UCLA suspends Adrian Klemm

College Football, UCLA Bruins

UCLA has suspended offensive line coach Adrian Klemm with pay for alleged and undisclosed NCAA rules violations.

Per a statement released Monday by the school, UCLA said it is cooperating fully with the NCAA "while the matter is being reviewed."

No additional details were given, and the school declined further comment "to protect the integrity of the process."

Klemm, considered one of the top recruiters in the country, joined Bruins coach Jim Mora's staff when he took over following the 2011 season.

UCLA brought in the No. 11 recruiting class last month, per ESPN.com's RecruitingNation Class Rankings. Three of the past four years, the Bruins have had a top-20 recruiting class.

UCLA should be able to get through March without Klemm's recruiting talents, because it's one of the slowest periods of the recruiting calendar.

But if Klemm doesn't return in time for the spring evaluation period that beings on April 15 and lasts until the end of May, the Bruins could face some issues on the trail.

The spring recruiting window is one of the most critical periods of the recruiting cycle. It's when coaches are allowed to visit high schools for both academic and athletic evaluations, but more importantly, it's also when they're allowed to make a telephone call to a recruit for the first time and the only time until the contact period begins in September.
