Macgarrett Kings Jr. arrested again

College Football, Michigan State Spartans

Michigan State wide receiver Macgarrett Kings Jr. is in trouble with the law for an alcohol-related incident for the second in the last 12 months.

Police arrested Kings, 21, in East Lansing at 2:36 a.m. Saturday morning on charges of drunken and disorderly conduct and obstructing, resisting, hindering or assaulting an officer, according to court documents. Both charges, first reported by the Detroit Free Press, are misdemeanors.

"We're aware of the incident," Spartans head coach Mark Dantonio said in a written statement. "All of our student-athletes are held to a high standard, and individuals will be held accountable for their actions. We will manage this situation internally."

Kings pleaded guilty to driving under the influence last summer, a charge that stemmed from his arrest in early April that year. He was stopped by police with a blood alcohol content level of 0.234, nearly three times the legal limit. The judge sentenced Kings to 13 months probation and various fines. In December, Kings' lawyer filed a motion to remove him from probation and the case was resolved in January.

Dantonio suspended Kings for the remainder of spring practice after last year's arrest. Kings rejoined the team in August and finished second on the roster with 29 catches for 404 yards. He told reporters in September that he felt like a changed person.

"I'm not taking things for granted because it can be gone like that," he said. "I'm more humble and more in tune with everything in my life and school."

Michigan State begins its spring practice this year on March 24. Kings is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing March 19.
