Fresno State quarterback Brian Burrell forgoing final season

FRESNO, Calif. -- Fresno State quarterback Brian Burrell is forgoing his final season of eligibility.

Bulldogs coach Tim DeRuyter announced the decision Friday.

Burrell started 13 of Fresno State's 14 games last season, passing for 2,620 yards and 22 touchdowns. He's on track to graduate this spring with his bachelor's degree in communication.

"I'm very thankful for the dedication and determination that Brian Burrell brought to our program, especially this past season," DeRuyter said statement released by the school. "He now wishes to pursue other avenues with his life and we wish him nothing but the best moving forward."

Fresno State will enter spring practice with three quarterbacks on its roster -- sophomore Zach Greenlee, redshirt freshman Kilton Anderson and freshman Chason Virgil.
