Trevor Knight cleared to play

Oklahoma quarterback Trevor Knight has been cleared to practice and play in the Russell Athletic Bowl, the school announced Saturday.

Knight missed the Sooners' final three regular-season games after suffering a neck injury against Baylor on Nov. 8.

The sophomore could jumpstart Oklahoma's ailing pass offense against Clemson in the bowl game. With freshman Cody Thomas in the lineup in place of Knight, the Sooners averaged less than 100 yards passing per game.

Knight has an 11-3 record as Oklahoma's starter. He was the MVP of the Sugar Bowl last season after passing for 348 yards and four touchdowns.

This season, Knight has passed for 2,197 yards and 14 touchdowns and rushed for 340 yards and five scores.
