Each week during the college football season, Mel Kiper and Todd McShay kick off the week by settling a debate, looking at emerging NFL prospects and peeking ahead to next week.
The big question: What would the All-America team look like if it were based on NFL potential?
Mel Kiper: I've been assigned offense, so here you go, Todd.
QB Marcus Mariota, Oregon: The No. 1 player on my Big Board has 32 TD passes against 2 INTs this year, and has run for nine more touchdowns. The guy is special. FSU's Jameis Winston backs him up.
RBs Melvin Gordon, Wisconsin and Todd Gurley, Georgia: Gordon is now averaging 8.3 yards per carry during a season when every defense he plays is focused on him. I'll leave Gurley here to pair with Gordon as I still believe he can be special (and probably a second-round pick) when he's healthy. Ameer Abdullah is next in line.
