Snow halts Kent State-Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Buffalo's home football game against Kent State has been canceled because of severe winter weather in western New York.

It was originally postponed from Wednesday to Friday, but the Mid-American Conference announced Thursday night that the game had been scuttled altogether.

MAC Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher says it's not feasible to play, and the conference wants "to be respectful of the efforts of the emergency service personnel in the Buffalo area who are working to assist those in need."

Buffalo (4-6, 2-4) and Kent State (1-9, 0-6) are out of playoff contention. Buffalo closes its season at Massachusetts on Nov. 28.
