Seminoles dismiss Ukeme Eligwe

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State has dismissed linebacker Ukeme Eligwe for a violation of team rules, coach Jimbo Fisher announced Thursday.

Fisher did not specify what the violation was specifically for or if it was a first offense.

The 6-foot-2, 239-pound redshirt sophomore was part of Florida State's 2012 recruiting class that finished ranked No. 2 and was expected to compete for a starting position this season. However, Eligwe suffered a Lisfranc injury during the spring and missed Florida State's first four games.

He played against Wake Forest on Oct. 4 and recorded two tackles, but he has not played since. Eligwe played in 13 of 14 games in 2013 after a redshirt season in '12.

Fisher said injured linebackers E.J. Levenberry, Jacob Pugh, Terrance Smith and Matthew Thomas will all play against Virginia on Saturday. The No. 2 Seminoles had to play a defensive back at linebacker against Louisville because of injuries.

Also, star quarterback Jameis Winston (ankle) wasn't on the injury report and will face the Cavaliers as expected.
